Narrative

Following the events of The Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, makes a play to take over the reins of crime in Gotham. Aside from the bat signal in the final shot of the season finale, we never got ours. Robert Pattinson cameo in “The Penguin.” In this short video, IMDb attempts to answer: Where the hell was Batman? Colin Farrell fought hard to make the Penguin version smoke in The Batman (2022), but it didn’t work out.

So the first episode is over and it was great

I’ve never seen Farrell so invested in a character

I mean, yes, he wears a thick suit, but you’d never know it. His attitude, body language, and voice make you immerse yourself in the character and just see the Penguin. He’s nothing like the other live-action TV Penguins, Burgess Meredith or Robin Lord Taylor. This is a New York mobster, a wise guy.

He’s a Scorsese mobster, but without the sharp tongue

The plot is simple, similar to Lord Taylor’s Penguin on the CW’s Gotham. Penguin is the middle man in a mafia organization. So far he’s done his time, slowly making his way through the mob, and then when the Riddler blows up the city wall and his boss dies in the movie, he sees an opportunity to move into the world. Now the game of cross, double cross, and probably triple cross begins.
