GinTalk

We have teamed up with Jane’s Tours for a special bicentennial event.

2019 is a very important year in Singapore’s history as we commemorate the 200th anniversary of the arrival of the East India Company – what one could call a small voyage for Sir Stamford Raffles & Major William Farquhar, but a giant leap for Singapore!

But do you know what an important part the Scots have played both in the founding of the settlement & its subsequent growth and development into the economic powerhouse that it is today?  And not just on the business front, important although that is, but also in the fields of government, administration, medicine, the law, education, architecture and so much more.

Our event will start with a talk to give an overview of this history – which will be accompanied by a G&T made with our very own Tanglin Gin at a newly opened bar. After which, you will have an hour long guided walk around the Kampong Glam area, where Farquhar’s street used to exist and where our second resident, John Crawfurd (another Scot!) played out dramas with the Sultan.

Then back to the bar for a discussion over another sampling of their brew!

The Oriental Elixir Bar is a new, cosy space & we have to restrict the number of participants to 20 – so please book asap!

The ticket price includes 2 gin based drinks plus accompanying nibbles
